Ladies and Gentlemen: Unfortunately, the countdown to Labor Day is officially on. While this summer in particular seems to be flying by, I’m hoping to slow things down just a bit and live like everyone’s favorite fifty-somethings. No, I’m not talking about the ladies from And Just Like That. I’m actually referring to the original fabulous foursome: Blanche, Rose, Dorothy, and Sophia—aka The Golden Girls (did you know that Dorothy and Rose were only supposed to be 55 when the show premiered?!).
What many of us remember and loved about The Golden Girls is how they approached life and growing older together with a sense of humor and compassion. They were also never afraid to try something new. So during these next few weeks I plan to catch up with some girlfriends on my lanai (ok, screened-in porch), pour a few Golden Girls-inspired cocktails, and gab about all the serious and not-so-serious stuff life has thrown our way over these past few months. And while I’m watching my kids spend their last days of summer jumping in the pool, my new hobby will be diving into these inspired activity books.
