Talented Tolkien

September 19, 2017

Learn about the who, what, where, and whys of J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional universe with all four Tolkien titles. Each title explores different aspects of Middle-earth, the battles that took place there, and the heroes who rose in the face of crisis to shape the course of that world's history.

Heroes of Tolkien
examines the complexities surrounding Tolkien's portrayal of good and evil, analyzing the most celebrated heroes from the earliest days of Arda to the end of the War of the Ring. Men, elves, dwarves, and their allies are covered in detail, and each hero's role in the battle against the forces of evil is discussed at length.

The history of J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-earth is filled with epic battles in an ongoing struggle between good and evil. The Battles of Tolkien recounts many of the greatest conflicts over thousands of years, from the earliest skirmishes of the Valarian Ages to the defining battles in the War of the Ring.

J. R. R. Tolkien’s fictional universe is as vast as the human imagination, so an atlas is a helpful tool to get around. Maps, images, and vivid descriptions in full color create an enchanting reference to all the fantastical places and creatures that sprung from Tolkien’s mind.

J.R.R. Tolkien is the father of modern fantasy. Inside A Dictionary of Tolkien, you’ll find a chronology of Tolkien’s life, along with a short biography and an explanation of his writings. Then flip through the dictionary to discover terms like Aglarond, the great caverns beneath Helm’s Deep, or the Black Riders and the mystery surrounding them—among many other terms.
